FAQs
Makeup & Artistry
-
Yes. Great makeup starts with understanding that products and techniques are not one size fits all. Foundation, powder, skin preparation and application may need to change based on complexion, undertone, texture, skin type and age.
Mia also takes time to understand how you normally wear makeup, what you love, what you do not, and how you want to feel in the finished look. Communication, product knowledge and experience all help determine what will work best for the person in front of her.
-
A combined hair and makeup team can be a great choice when convenience is the priority. A dedicated makeup specialist has focused their time, education and professional experience specifically on mastering makeup artistry.
That specialization can mean deeper knowledge of skin preparation, complexion, texture, undertones, product formulations, application, longevity and how makeup performs both in person and on camera.
-
Absolutely. Professional makeup does not have to mean heavy makeup. Coverage, finish, color and intensity can be customized so the result looks polished, photographs beautifully and still feels like you.
-
Professional makeup for a wedding or special event is designed for long wear, but skin type, weather, humidity, tears and touching the face can all affect it. Mia prepares the skin and selects and layers products based on the individual application, with optional touch up service available for clients who want their makeup managed throughout the event.
BRIDAL
-
Fine tuning is the final finishing check before Mia leaves, such as powder where needed, a lip or gloss refresh and small final adjustments.
Touch up service means Mia stays with you to manage the makeup as the event progresses. That may include adjustments after tears or humidity, refreshing blush or lips, changing a lip color or adding more depth or sparkle later. Fine tuning finishes the application. Touch up service manages it afterward.
-
Mia does not recommend using a bridal preview as makeup for an important event. A preview is a working session where you may test different products, finishes or techniques and may even intentionally wear something slightly different on each side of your face to compare how it performs.
Pairing the appointment with a hair preview or dress fitting can make sense. Planning a shower, wedding or other event afterward can limit the experimentation that makes the preview valuable.
-
The preview is where Mia and the bride work through the wedding day look before the wedding. You will discuss inspiration, comfort level, skin, usual makeup and what you do and do not want in the finished look.
Products, finishes, placement and intensity can be adjusted as the look develops so there is a clear direction for the wedding day.
-
Lashes are included with bridal makeup and are selected to complement your eye shape and finished look. They can be subtle and mascara like or more defined depending on your preference. For regular event makeup, lash options are available as add on services.
-
Yes. Tymia Yvette Beauty provides on location bridal makeup throughout Baltimore, Annapolis, Maryland, Washington DC and the surrounding DMV, with select travel beyond the area. Domestic and select international destination weddings may be available and are quoted individually based on the location and travel requirements.
LASh Extensions & LASh Services
-
Many clients return about every two weeks, while others prefer every three to four weeks depending on natural shedding, lifestyle and how full they like their lashes to look. The appointment time is based on how much work is needed when you return. After more than four weeks, a new full set is generally required rather than a maintenance fill.
-
Absolutely. Your eyes remain closed during the service, and many clients use the time to relax and take a lash nap. Get comfortable and rest.
-
Yes. Lash extensions can be customized to look as subtle or defined as you prefer. A natural set can enhance your eye shape and create a brighter, more awake appearance similar to naturally fuller lashes or a great coat of mascara, while helping you spend less time getting ready in the morning.
-
Both have a place, but they serve different needs. DIY clusters can be convenient for an occasional look, a weekend or a special event. Professional extensions are better suited to someone who wants a customized look they can wake up with and maintain over time.
With properly applied extensions, an extension is attached to an isolated natural lash. A cluster is attached across a small section of multiple lashes. Think of attaching something to one strand of hair versus attaching it across several strands that are each growing and shedding on their own schedule. Repeated cluster wear, poor placement, unsuitable adhesive or improper removal can place additional stress on the natural lashes, while proper extension application uses isolation, appropriate weight and placement to work with the natural lash cycle.
-
Please arrive with the eye area clean and free of mascara, eye makeup and oily products. Once your eyes are closed, you are welcome to relax or sleep while Mia works.
-
A lash lift reshapes your natural lashes to create a more lifted, open appearance without adding extensions. Results generally last several weeks and gradually relax as your natural lashes move through their growth cycle.
BROWS
-
Brow tinting adds color primarily to the brow hairs. Brow staining colors the hairs while also leaving temporary color on the skin for a softly filled in appearance.
Brow lamination works with the direction and flexibility of the brow hairs, making them easier to position and helping them appear fuller and fluffier. The right service depends on whether you want more color, more visible definition on the skin, more control of the brow hairs or a combination.
Lessons & Beauty Concierge
-
A personal makeup lesson is focused on technique and helping you learn how to apply makeup on your own face. Personal Makeup Shopping & Beauty Concierge is focused on helping you choose products that make sense for your complexion, lifestyle, goals and budget. The two services can also work together if you need help with both products and technique.
-
Yes. Bringing what you already use helps Mia see what is working, what may not be serving you and what you may simply need to use differently. The goal is not to replace everything you own, but to help you understand your products, tools and technique.
PRODUCTION
-
Production makeup has to work within the needs of the camera, lighting, schedule and creative direction. Depending on the project, that can include maintaining continuity, making adjustments for lighting and high resolution cameras, working efficiently with talent and crew, and keeping the makeup appropriate for a corporate, editorial, television or commercial setting.
