How It Works

You may have also heard this service referred to as cosmetic tattooing or micropigmentation. The process is very similar to getting a tattoo. Your permanent makeup artist will apply the pigment using a needle. There are permanent makeup options for eyebrows, lash lines, lips, and cheeks.

After the initial application, the pigment will gradually fade for about three weeks until it looks like the color you selected. The results last up to three years, although you will want to get a touchup every six to eight weeks. I specialize in ombre powder brows (microshading) which is a great solution if you have sparse eyebrows or just want to save time filling in your brows.

Why Permanent Makeup?

I have a special connection with my micropigmentation clients because I’ve seen the effects of losing hair firsthand. In 2018, my mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Seeing how discouraged and she was losing her hair gave me compassion for women in similar situations. While many women purchase wigs or wear hats to cope with the hair loss on their heads, covering up the loss of eyebrows and eyelashes is tricky. Permanent makeup is a solution that’s natural-looking and low-maintenance.

Although my special interest in permanent makeup stems from my mom’s cancer diagnosis, there are so many other reasons why you may experience hair loss. I provide permanent makeup applications for clients suffering from alopecia, trichotillomania, and other hair loss disorders.

More Cosmetic Tattooing Services in Baltimore Coming Soon!

Starting in 2022, I’ll be offering the following new services:

  • Permanent Eyeliner—This involves applying a dark pigment in your lash line that mimics eyeliner. It can be natural and thin to make your lash line appear fuller or be thick so it looks like you’re always wearing your favorite liquid liner.

  • Permanent Blush—If you want to look like you wake up every day with a natural glow in your face, you’ll love permanent blush. This is an especially great solution for people who don’t naturally have much color in their cheeks or who have cosmetic allergies.

  • Permeant Lip Blush—This adds a flattering tint to your lips. You’ll never have to worry about eating or drinking making your lipstick wear off again!

PERMANENT MAKEUP FAQS

1.  Will powder brows work on my skin?

Absolutely! This makeup application works on all skin tones and skin types.

2.  Will microshading cover up an eyebrow tattoo?

This depends on how dark your tattoo is. If you want to know before you book your appointment, just send me a photo.

3.  How long does the procedure take?

On average, powder or ombre brows will take about four hours. However, I recommend giving yourself extra time because everyone’s skin will react differently to the pigment, and the process could take longer.

4.  What is the difference between brow tint and brow henna treatments?

Brow henna colors/ tints not only the eyebrow hairs but also the skin underneath. The soft to dark shadow effect on the skin has the appearance of a tattoo. Brow tint only tints the hair.

5.  Does permanent makeup hurt?

For most people, the pain is pretty minimal. I use a topical anesthetic to numb the area and minimize as much discomfort.

6.  Who shouldn’t get permanent makeup?

Permanent makeup isn’t for everyone. If you’re under the age of 18, nursing, or pregnant, you should not get a permanent makeup application. Some conditions that will also disqualify you from permanent makeup include:

  • Diabetes

  • Glaucoma

  • HIV/Hepatitis

  • Skin cancer

  • Hemophilia

  • Keloid disorder

  • Makeup allergies

  • Skin diseases including shingles, psoriasis, or eczema near the desired area of application

  • Anything that requires you to take skin medications like Roaccutane and steroids

If you’re not sure whether or not you can get permanent makeup, please call me (443) 257-4100.

7.  What is the aftercare like?

Please email me at tymia@tymiayvette.com for your aftercare instructions.

8.  How long should I wait for a touch-up?

After your first appointment, you should get a touchup in about six to eight weeks and no sooner. If you wait any longer than twelve weeks, you’ll have to start the process over.

9. How long will the results last?

Ombre powder brows (microshading) should last two to three years. For best results, you should get a touchup once a year. You’ll save so much time and money not having to draw on your eyebrows every morning!
